Physical Synthesis Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
Perform digital synthesis and static timing analysis (STA) for complex ASIC/digital designs as part of the ASICS Engineering team. Deliver timing closure, implementation optimization, and maintain synthesis/STA methodologies while working with design, verification, and product teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level — 0–1+ years of relevant hardware or ASIC implementation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include synthesis, timing analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to meet performance and power targets.
- Perform digital synthesis and static timing analysis for complex digital designs.
- Collaborate with design, verification and product/PD teams to ensure timing closure and optimize implementations.
- Develop and maintain synthesis and STA scripts, flows, and methodologies.
- Analyze and resolve timing issues in coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Run low-power checks and logic equivalency checks.
- Participate in design reviews and advise on timing and synthesis aspects.
- Document and report synthesis and STA results with findings and recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and competencies required on entry.
- Familiarity with EDA synthesis tools (e.g., Synopsys Design Compiler, Cadence Genus).
- Knowledge of static timing analysis and timing-closure techniques.
- Basic understanding of digital design principles and VLSI concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, or Python.
- Strong verbal and written communication and ability to work across teams.
- Analytical problem-solving using deductive and inductive methods.
Nice-to-have:
- 0–1+ years hardware engineering or related practical experience.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
