Physical Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for the full physical implementation flow from RTL to GDSII for high-performance SoCs/SiPs using advanced technology nodes. The role requires close collaboration with external IP providers, EDA vendors, and silicon/package vendors to deliver production-ready chips.

Work is based in Barcelona; the team focuses on timing closure, physical verification, and production readiness of complex designs.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include ownership of implementation tasks, technical leadership, and coordination with partners and vendors.

• Own the physical implementation process (RTL to GDSII) for assigned block(s) or SoCs/SiPs.
• Drive timing and physical design closure, including signoff flows and verification readiness.
• Coordinate and exchange data with external IP providers, EDA vendors, and silicon/package vendors.
• Provide technical guidance on physical design flow, DFT, and EDA tools and methods.
• Moderate design discussions and make timely technical decisions to meet project milestones.
• Participate in tapeout preparation and reliability/yield optimization activities for mass production.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers to achieve timing and verification closure goals.

• Must-have: Proven experience in physical implementation of high-complexity SoCs/SiPs with multiple tapeouts; hands-on experience driving timing and physical verification closure; proficiency with Synopsys tool flows such as Fusion Compiler, ICC2 and PrimeTime; experience supervising or mentoring engineers.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of UPF, experience with chiplets or hierarchical partitions, and experience in reliability and yield optimization.
