Physical IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Physical Verification/PD engineer in the ASIC Products Division focused on advanced process nodes for PCIe switch and enterprise products. The role drives chip-level physical verification, foundry-rule compliance, DFM, and supports silicon tape-out and respins.
Experience Level
Senior β preferred experience: Master's in Electrical Engineering with ~6+ years or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with ~8+ years.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute chip-level physical verification and resolve verification issues (DRC, LVS, ERC, PERC).
- Set up runsets and tool flows for advanced process nodes.
- Manage top-level floorplan, I/O and bump-planning rules.
- Resolve physical design issues related to chip integration and assembly.
- Provide technical direction on verification methodologies and runtime optimization.
- Develop and document best-practice guidelines for verification flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints:
- Hands-on experience running physical verification (LVS, DRC, ERC, PERC).
- Experience with parasitic extraction tools such as StarRC or Quantus.
- Experience with EDA flows and tools (ICV, Calibre, Pegasus) and rule-deck coding for these tools.
- Practical tape-out experience and experience resolving advanced-node DRC/LVS/EMIR issues.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, Tcl, or Perl.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Onsite work required at the San Jose facility; remote work is not allowed.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant physical design/verification experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience.
