Physical Design STA CAD Engineer
Role Summary
Develop physical design and CAD flows for networking SoCs within the Networking Silicon engineering team. Deliver STA, logic equivalence, power integrity flows, and verification methodologies to achieve timing and power closure.
Hybrid role collaborating with block owners and chip-level teams to deliver high-throughput, low-latency networking devices.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career — minimum 2 years of relevant full-time experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design and automation of physical implementation and analysis flows.
- Develop and maintain physical design, static timing analysis (STA), logic equivalence, and power integrity flows and methodologies.
- Work closely with block owners and chip STA engineers to achieve timing convergence and signoff-quality results.
- Implement and improve flow and tool methodologies for timing analysis, power/noise analysis, IR-drop, EM, and backend verification.
- Investigate complex physical-design problems and propose creative, practical solutions for timing and power closure.
- Document flows and present technical status and results to cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 2+ years of full-time experience in physical design, backend CAD, STA, and timing-closure methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with signoff STA and power tools such as PrimeTime and PrimePower.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a sense of ownership.
- Good written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to work independently and with global teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in power integrity and signoff tools (RedHawk) or formal equivalence tools (Formality).
- Scripting for flow automation (Tcl, Perl, Python).
- Experience across multiple projects and verification domains.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
