Job Title

Physical Design Methodology and Operations Engineer - New College Grad 2026

Role Summary

Join a small infrastructure team responsible for the platform that coordinates semiconductor design flows across global datacenters. The role focuses on operating and modernizing production services that support GPU/SoC tapeouts and the workflows used by chip designers.

Work covers service operations, tooling, web interfaces, observability, and data-driven improvements to design methodology.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” new college graduate (Bachelor's or Master's) or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Own and improve production systems that coordinate semiconductor design jobs and tooling.

  • Design and support mechanisms for coordinating large-scale design tasks across multiple global datacenters.
  • Own, debug, and improve production services spanning web browsers, containerized microservices, and bare-metal Linux hosts.
  • Build web interfaces to configure, launch, and analyze EDA tools and design flows.
  • Modernize legacy services by migrating and re-architecting backends, and improving reliability and observability.
  • Mine and analyze large datasets of job-execution telemetry and tool quality-of-results to catch regressions and improve flows.
  • Help invent next-generation semiconductor design methodology; optionally contribute directly to physical design.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills.

  • Programming and scripting in one or more languages such as Python, Perl, C, or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and large-scale compute infrastructure.
  • Experience with web technologies and web programming.
  • Experience working on Linux systems.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Argo, Luigi, or similar).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch/Kibana or other telemetry/dashboarding tools.
  • Familiarity with relational or NoSQL datastores (MSSQL, MySQL, SQLite, etc.).
  • Exposure to static timing analysis or VLSI physical design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. The role targets recent graduates; equivalent technical experience will be considered.
