Physical Design Intern
Role Summary
Join Marvell Israel's switching department as a physical design intern focused on physical design and methodology for next-generation processor/ASIC projects. You will work on implementing routing devices and physical-design flows for large, high-performance ASICs using industry-standard EDA tools.
This internship involves collaboration with logic, verification, and cross-functional teams to support designs targeted at server, 5G/6G, automotive, and networking applications.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship — suitable for 3rd or 4th year undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Implement physical-design tasks for routing and associated IP within large ASIC projects using commercial EDA tools.
- Contribute to physical-design methodology and automation to improve tapeout quality and turnaround time.
- Collaborate with logic, verification, and system teams to integrate designs and resolve implementation issues.
- Execute tool flows, analyze results, and support placement, routing, and timing activities as assigned.
- Document work and report progress to mentors and team leads.

- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of logic design and verification.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Verilog, VHDL, or Tcl and basic scripting/programming.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with workflow/automation development for design flows.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to commercial EDA tools and vendors.
- Role may require export-control eligibility; applicants may be subject to an export-license review.
Education Requirements
Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, 3rd or 4th year (required).
