Physical Design Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify digital integrated circuits for TI products, translating system requirements into silicon implementations. Work on CPU/DSP subsystem components including 64-bit DSP processor cores, MMU, and heterogeneous multicore shared memory and cache systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on digital architecture, design, modeling and verification across block and system levels.
- Define, design, model and verify digital circuits to meet performance, power, cost and schedule targets.
- Analyze architecture trade-offs and provide high-level guidance to meet specification and performance goals.
- Participate in design reviews and produce required design and product documentation.
- Develop behavioral and system-level models; drive model-based development and verification.
- Supervise IC layouts and coordinate with layout teams to ensure implementation quality.
- Characterize prototypes, develop test specifications, and coordinate with test/product engineering for product release.
- Collaborate with business and system engineering teams to define mutually agreeable design specifications.
Requirements
Skills and experience expected. Degree details are in the Education Requirements section below.
- Must-have: Practical experience in digital IC design and verification, including RTL/HDL design and system-level modeling.
- Must-have: Ability to analyze architecture trade-offs and produce design documentation and review artifacts.
- Must-have: Experience characterizing prototypes and defining test specifications.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with DSP processor cores, ARM processors, CPU simulator development, or vector ISA architecture.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with heterogeneous multicore shared memory/cache systems and cache coherence.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity supervising layout teams and working with product/test engineering to drive releases.
- Interpersonal: Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, initiative and time-management skills.
Education Requirements
