Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's Data Center Solutions Group to perform physical IC design for PCIe switch and enterprise storage products. The role focuses on RTL-to-silicon physical design, timing closure, and methodologies that enable high-performance AI/ML and data center solutions.
This position is based at the Colorado Springs campus and requires on-site work.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 12+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include end-to-end physical design and collaboration with design teams.
- Execute physical design, synthesis, physical verification, and timing closure
- Set up and synthesize RTL
- Perform top-level STA and timing closure using multiple strategies
- Conduct EM/IR analysis
- Floor-planning and place-and-route, including top-level floorplanning
- Clock tree synthesis, custom clock trees, insertion reduction and skew balancing
- Develop and improve flows and methodologies
- Collaborate with IC design and RTL engineers throughout the design cycle
- Work on-site at the Colorado Springs facility (no remote work allowed)
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proficient in TCL and PERL scripting
- Proficiency with EDA tools relevant to physical design
- Full physical design cycle experience from RTL to tape-out (experience-focused)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
