The Physical Design Engineer develops and applies CAD/EDA software engineering methods and tools for physical implementation of semiconductor designs. The role evaluates architecture and hardware constraints, plans technical projects, and implements software solutions to support design methodology and tool flows.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and apply CAD/EDA software methods, routines and utility programs.
• Assess architecture and hardware limitations and recommend design approaches.
• Plan and manage technical projects related to CAD tool development and methodology.
• Define and implement new CAD software approaches and design specifications.
• Prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendations for review.
• Specify materials, equipment and supplies required for projects and evaluate vendor capabilities as needed.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Experience in CAD/EDA tool development or design methodology.
• Proven software development skills and ability to create utilities and automation tools.
• Experience assessing architectures, planning technical projects, and writing technical specifications.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate technical recommendations.
