Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Data Center Solutions Group to perform full-chip physical implementation for PCIe switch and enterprise storage products. The role owns RTL-to-silicon physical design tasks including synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and physical verification to deliver tape-out quality designs.

Senior - 12+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on physical design and collaboration with RTL and verification teams to achieve timing, power, and signal integrity goals.
- Execute physical design flow: synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and physical verification.
- Set up and synthesize RTL for implementation.
- Perform top-level STA and use multiple timing-closure strategies.
- Conduct EM/IR analysis and implement mitigation strategies.
- Design and optimize clock tree synthesis, custom clock trees, insertion reduction, and skew balancing.
- Lead floorplanning and top-level layout tasks.
- Develop and improve flows and methodologies for physical implementation.
- Collaborate closely with IC/RTL designers and cross-functional teams.
- Work on-site at the Colorado Springs facility; remote work is not permitted.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and hands-on experience required for the role.
- Proficient scripting skills (TCL and Perl).
- Experience with industry EDA tools for synthesis, place-and-route, STA, and physical verification.
- Full physical design cycle experience (RTL to tape-out).
- Deep experience in timing closure and top-level STA methodologies.
- Practical experience with EM/IR analysis and mitigation.
- Strong communication skills for technical coordination across teams.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. (This position also specifies 12+ years of relevant experience.)
