Photonics Design and Test
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Photonics Design and Test
Role Summary
Join Marvell's Greece team to design, layout and test silicon photonic devices and subsystems. The role combines hands-on laboratory testing, probe-station operation, measurement setup, and experimental data analysis to validate opto-electronic integrated circuits.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The position expects substantial industry experience (the posting indicates more than 5 years of relevant work experience); candidates typically fall in the 3–7 year range of experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include device and subsystem characterization and maintaining test infrastructure.
- Design, layout and test silicon photonic devices and subsystems.
- Operate, maintain, service and upgrade a die-level probe station for opto-electronic IC testing.
- Set up optical, electrical, and opto-electrical measurements for component characterization.
- Collect, process and analyze experimental datasets; produce reports and test documentation.
- Develop and maintain test software and hardware as required for photonics test platforms.
Requirements
Key skills, work authorization and personal attributes required for successful performance.
- Experience with photonic/opto-electronic device simulation tools such as Lumerical, Photon Design, RSoft, VPI, or similar.
- Experience with physical design/layout tools (Cadence, Mentor, or similar).
- Experience with photonics test platforms and related software and hardware development.
- Ability to collect and analyze large datasets (experience with JMP, DataConductor, or similar tools).
- Right to work in Greece (EU citizenship or existing visa/work permit required).
- Eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to export license review.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; self-starter who works well in collaborative, dynamic environments.
- Attention to detail and creativity in problem-solving.
Education Requirements
Requires either a Master’s degree in photonics plus more than 5 years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD in relevant photonic technologies. Relevant fields/technologies mentioned include photonics, Silicon Photonics, active and passive optical components, and high-speed optical links.
