Performance Library Engineer
Efficient ComputerJob Title
Performance Library Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize performance-critical libraries and frameworks for Efficient Computer’s energy-efficient programmable processor (the Fabric). You will own library development, optimize for a unique dataflow hardware architecture, and collaborate closely with compiler and embedded teams to improve compiler features and performance tools.
This role focuses on hardware/software co-design and delivering high-performance, resource-efficient implementations used by customers and partners.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically candidates with substantial professional experience (source indicates 5+ years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and optimize libraries and frameworks targeting the Fabric processor.
- Take ownership of complex, performance-critical code and deliver production-quality implementations.
- Profile and tune code to maximize performance on a dataflow hardware architecture.
- Work closely with compiler and embedded teams; provide actionable feedback on compiler enhancements and performance tooling.
- Design clean, modular APIs and maintainable low-level C/C++ systems code.
- Contribute to benchmark design, performance analysis, and comparative hardware evaluations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on software development experience working closely with hardware; exposure to at least two RISC, DSP, or GPU platforms.
- Experience designing frameworks and libraries for resource-constrained and real-time environments.
- Experience with CUDA, HIP, or comparable parallel programming models.
- Strong C/C++ systems-level programming, debugging, and interface design skills.
- Background in performance profiling, benchmark design, or comparative hardware analysis.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to influence cross-functional engineering teams.
- Actively uses AI tools to generate, optimize, and debug code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document complex systems and lead technical discussions.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to low-level programming interfaces such as PTX, LLVM IR, or MLIR.
- Domain expertise in two or more of: linear algebra, ML, image processing, signal/audio processing, SDR, real-time programming, or robotics.
Education Requirements
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; the posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
