Performance Analysis Intern

Role Summary

Join Arm's performance analysis team in Trondheim to support content and performance work on Mali GPUs. The role focuses on analysing benchmarks and games, creating demos, improving tooling and infrastructure, and collaborating with software and hardware teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for current university students; the placement is approximately 10 weeks starting June 2027.

Responsibilities

Typical duties during the internship include hands-on analysis, tooling, and collaboration across teams:

  • Run and analyse performance benchmarks and game workloads to identify bottlenecks.
  • Create demos and benchmarks to validate GPU behavior and performance changes.
  • Collect, visualise and interpret performance data; produce clear findings and recommendations.
  • Improve and extend internal infrastructure and automation (Linux/Android environments, Python tooling).
  • Work with cross-functional software and hardware teams to reproduce and investigate issues.
  • Document results and present findings to peers and mentors.

Requirements

Essential technical abilities and practical constraints for applicants (degree/enrolment details are under Education Requirements).

  • Must-have: curiosity about processors and digital systems; understanding of computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts; basic programming ability (Python or C/C++).
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with graphics APIs (OpenGL ES, Vulkan), experience with Linux/Android development and version control systems.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a multi-site, multi-cultural team.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Norway for the full duration of the internship; Arm cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Education Requirements

Must be a current higher-education student and returning to studies after the placement. Preferred fields: Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science. Applicants at Bachelor's, Master's or PhD level are welcome; alternative degrees considered if supported by relevant experience.
