PDK QA Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Design Technology Platform/Process Design Kit (PDK) group to validate PDK artifacts used by product designers. The role focuses on quality validation across process nodes and multiple EDA flows to ensure PDK correctness for design, simulation, and manufacturing.
Experience Level
Entry-level — suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include test development, execution, and debugging of PDK components and verification flows.
- Validate PDK components (pcells, techfiles, runsets, extraction, fill) across process nodes and EDA flows.
- Develop and maintain regression test suites and automation to run regressions and compare cross-tool results.
- Create layout designs for verification and run layout-based regressions; debug and root-cause failures.
- Develop circuit designs for pre-layout and post-layout simulations; analyze simulation results and debug issues.
- Perform parasitic extraction validation and ensure consistency between tools.
- Document defects, troubleshooting steps, and test results; collaborate with teams to resolve failures.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work attributes.
- Proficient in scripting with TCL, Perl, or Python.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Strong debugging and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative, fast-paced projects.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related electrical/scientific STEM field. Fresh graduates are eligible; less than 2 years' experience preferred.
