Job Title
PDE MRDA Process Engineer
Role Summary
Engineer within Package Development & Engineering (PDE) responsible for process definition, development, optimization, and yield improvement for the MRDA area. The role focuses on defect analysis, experiment-driven process control, inline monitoring, and collaborating with production, suppliers, and global sites to align best-known methods.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities emphasize yield, process control, and cross-functional collaboration to reduce defects and improve throughput.
- Analyze experimental process flows and defect data to identify anomalies and drive corrective actions.
- Design, execute, and analyze structured experiments (SWRs) and test runs to validate process changes and qualifications.
- Implement containment, sampling, and qualification procedures; track defect-performance metrics and produce periodic reports.
- Collaborate with Process Integration, Yield Enhancement, Production, Quality, and suppliers to improve inline detection and process relevancy.
- Support conversions, new process qualifications, and supplier/tool releases to improve cost of ownership, throughput, and yield.
- Use inline signals and data-driven methods (including AI tools) to detect issues earlier and identify root causes.
- Maintain KPI/Yield systems, update line health, and support daily prioritization and execution.
- Document and share improvements with sister fabs; participate in long-term global projects to align best-known methods.
- Provide technical leadership when required and cover other process loops as needed.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and abilities expected for success in the role.
-
Must-have: Practical experience in advanced packaging/process development or semiconductor process engineering focused on yield and defect control.
-
Must-have: Strong data analysis skills, experience with experiment design and statistical analysis for process characterization.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with inline monitoring, defect classification, and use of process signals to drive improvements.
-
Must-have: Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication with production, suppliers, and global teams.
-
Must-have: Comfortable leveraging AI or data-driven tools to support anomaly detection and automated reporting.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience managing image classification models, tool qualification, Global Conversion Progress (GCP) processes, or implementing Best Known Methods across sites.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience writing technical reports or papers and maintaining KPI/Yield metric systems.
