PDE CEM Engineer
Role Summary
Senior process development engineer for back-end packaging at Micron's Sanand fabrication facility. Own development, qualification and optimization of assembly and packaging processes to meet NPI schedules, yield, quality, and reliability targets.
Drive continuous improvement, introduce new materials and equipment, and integrate AI and data-driven methods to enable predictive control and faster decision-making in high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior-level β typically requires 8+ years of experience in semiconductor process development or backend assembly.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include process ownership, NPI qualification, process control, yield improvement, and deployment of data-driven solutions.
- Own Process of Record (POR), define process windows and capability targets (CPK).
- Lead NPI qualification efforts to achieve strong first-pass success.
- Define process specifications: parameters, tool setup, conditions and tolerances.
- Apply DOE, SPC and Six Sigma to characterize and optimize processes.
- Identify key process variables and center processes for robustness and margin.
- Lead RCA, FMEA, OCAP and structured problem resolution; implement containment and corrective/preventive actions.
- Leverage AI/ML and analytics to predict yield trends, detect excursions, and enable predictive process control.
- Use MES, equipment and yield data to generate insights and collaborate with digital teams to deploy AI-enabled tools.
- Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment and packaging technologies to reduce cost and improve productivity.
- Develop control plans, quality metrics and capability monitoring; coach process teams and ensure safe operations.

- 8+ years in semiconductor process development or backend assembly with proven NPI and yield-improvement results.
- Expertise in assembly processes and packaging integration for high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong statistical and process-control skills: DOE, SPC, Six Sigma, JMP or equivalent tools.
- Structured problem-solving experience: RCA, FMEA, OCAP and implementation of corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of data analytics and machine learning fundamentals; ability to apply AI insights to process problems.
- Exposure to Python, SQL or analytics platforms and experience using MES and equipment/yield data sources.
- Experience introducing new materials and equipment at production scale and driving cost-reduction initiatives.
- Strong cross-functional communication and team leadership in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / smart manufacturing concepts and digital enablement.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (as stated in the posting).
