Job Title

PCIe QA Engineer

Role Summary

Test engineer responsible for end-to-end validation of a PCIe switch software solution: functionality, performance, and compliance across configurations and use cases. Work closely with multi-site development and test teams to design tests, automate execution, and report results.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 2+ years of hands-on test engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver system-level and protocol validation, test automation, and documentation review.

  • Create, review and maintain test scenarios, test cases and test automation.
  • Execute functional, regression and performance tests for PCIe switch products.
  • Review design and functional specifications to derive test coverage.
  • Collaborate with developers and cross-site teams to reproduce, debug and prioritize issues.
  • Review user documentation for completeness and accuracy of described functionality.
  • Manage multiple parallel tasks, projects and release milestones.

Requirements

Core technical skills and behaviors required; additional desirable skills listed separately.

  • Must-have: Hands-on PCIe testing experience (Gen3 and above) and strong knowledge of PCIe concepts such as Configuration Space, Link Training, ACS, Hotplug, Virtualization, P2P, BMC interaction, AER/DPC and backplanes.
  • Experience writing and using automation in Python for network and system-level testing.
  • Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills; engineering mindset with a "break feature" approach to test design.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as a self-starter in distributed teams.
  • Ability to prioritize work across multiple releases and tasks.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with AMD/NVIDIA GPUs, RCCL/NCCL and RoCM/CUDA workflows.
  • Experience with NVMe drives and storage stress tools.
  • Familiarity with PCIe test equipment (protocol analyzers, protocol jammers, load generators).
  • Networking protocol validation experience, especially RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) and L2/L3 protocol use cases in AI/ML or HPC clusters.
  • Familiarity with deep learning models and workloads (NLP, LLMs, recommendation systems, image classification).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar) is specified, with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on test experience.
