PCIe Design Verification Intern - Spring 2027

Role Summary

Six-month internship (February 2027 - August 2027) on a verification team focused on PCIe and CXL hardware. Work in a SystemVerilog/UVM testbench to validate functionality and measure performance.

Primary mission: develop and run verification diagnostics, debug across simulation and hardware platforms, and automate verification and engineering processes.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Intended for current undergraduate or graduate students; typically 0–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day tasks include:

  • Develop directed and random diagnostics to validate PCIe/CXL behavior in simulation, emulation, and hardware.
  • Implement and debug tests in an SV/UVM testbench; enable new features and fix issues.
  • Write and review validation test plans and coverage/checker code.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve simulation performance; automate verification workflows and tools.
  • Debug across platforms (C models, RTL, emulators, real hardware) and collaborate with a distributed engineering team.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Exposure to computer architecture, ASIC design, or verification methodology (must-have).
  • Familiarity with Object-Oriented programming and/or SystemVerilog (must-have).
  • Scripting experience in Python or Perl (must-have).
  • Experience with directed and random functional testing and writing test plans (preferred).
  • Familiarity with hardware simulation and waveform debug tools and automation of build/test processes (preferred).
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams (must-have).

Education Requirements

Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related degree.
