Package Development Senior Manager
Role Summary
Lead the Package Development team responsible for backend assembly and package platform development. Define and execute technology roadmaps, drive development from concept to mass production, resolve technical challenges, and coach team members while managing stakeholders to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective packaging solutions.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 10 years' semiconductor industry experience with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and execute package platform and backend assembly technology roadmaps aligned with business and product needs.
- Drive development and qualification of assembly packaging solutions from concept to mass production.
- Support teams by clearing technical roadblocks to achieve project goals.
- Ensure solutions are reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective; influence key technology decisions.
- Act as a technical leader to drive cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Identify future-ready assembly technologies to sustain long-term growth.
- Manage stakeholders and maintain effective communication.
- Coach and develop the technical competence and career growth of team members.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- At least 10 years' relevant semiconductor industry experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of assembly processes, BOM, design and equipment technologies related to semiconductor packaging.
- Technical skills: package design rule review; thermal and stress FEA simulation; DFMEA and PFMEA; DFx (DFM, DFA, DFR); AutoCAD; root cause analysis; DFPC; analytical tools.
- Strong leadership and ability to coach others.
- Proactive in broadening competencies and keeping up to date with packaging, materials and process developments.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience defining technology roadmaps and enabling competitive packaging advantages.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Engineering.
