Job Title

PA Design Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Internship within Qorvo's Advanced Cellular group supporting power amplifier (PA) design and module development for wireless communication applications. Work includes circuit design, simulation, layout, and lab validation to meet efficiency, linearity, size, and reliability targets.

Experience Level

Intern — entry-level role for current college students (internship).

Responsibilities

Typical project tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Design power amplifiers and explore new PA architectures for RF modules.
  • Perform schematic capture, circuit simulations, and layout for RF PA ICs, modules, and evaluation boards.
  • Validate designs using 2D/3D EM modeling and electro-thermal solvers.
  • Balance efficiency, linearity, size, cost, and schedule in design trade-offs.
  • Support designs for 5G/LTE features such as carrier aggregation, multiple antennas, and filters.
  • Address ruggedness, ESD, and reliability requirements.
  • Collect and analyze lab data using signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, and power meters; provide feedback for design iterations.

Requirements

Core skills and attributes required or strongly preferred:

  • Analog/RF circuit design experience or coursework.
  • Practical familiarity with RF measurement equipment preferred (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters).
  • Software exposure: Cadence, ADS, HFSS/Momentum or other EM/FEM tools; electro-thermal simulation is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical information.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to deliver high-yielding designs on schedule.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Education Requirements

Internship open to students currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD program. Qualifications specifically cite MS or PhD study in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics as desirable. Minimum GPA: 3.0.
