Job Title
Optomechanical Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the CTO Optical Development group responsible for developing next-generation optomechanical systems for semiconductor process control. Focus on designing high‑precision, stable optical assemblies across wavelengths from EUV to NIR under cleanroom and vacuum constraints.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role typically requires at least 5 years of experience in high-precision optical system development.
Responsibilities
Design, analyze, prototype and validate precision optomechanical systems and their integration into optical instruments.
- Design and develop optomechanical architectures across EUV, VUV, DUV, VIS, and NIR systems.
- Define optical mounting, alignment strategies, and system error budgets.
- Perform thermal and structural analyses using FEM tools.
- Conduct vibration analyses (modal, PSD, harmonic response) to ensure system stability.
- Execute CFD simulations for airflow and thermal management designs.
- Select materials and define bonding/cementing approaches for long-term stability.
- Ensure compliance with cleanliness, photocontamination, stray light, vacuum, and cleanroom requirements.
- Drive prototyping, system integration, experimental validation, and supplier collaboration.
- Define and implement optical alignment concepts and tooling (e.g., autocollimators, wavefront sensors).
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and external suppliers.
Requirements
Core technical and hands-on capabilities required to perform the role.
-
Must-have:
- Minimum 5 years experience in high-precision optical system development.
- Experience with high-NA optical systems; EUV/DUV/VUV experience preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, CREO, SolidWorks, FEM platforms).
- Strong understanding of thermal, structural, and material behavior in precision systems.
- Experience with vibration analysis (modal, PSD, harmonic response) and CFD simulations.
- Proven track record in prototyping, supplier collaboration, and system realization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and system-level thinking.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working with vacuum and high-cleanliness environments.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing and precision engineering techniques.
Education Requirements
MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
