Optical Transceiver Product Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for development and oversight of manufacturing processes supporting Lumilens' optical transceiver product roadmap. The role partners with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams to deliver product yield, quality, reliability, and cost targets.

Senior β€” requires approximately 7+ years of experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Accountable for manufacturing readiness, product quality, and continuous improvement across the transceiver product lifecycle.

  • End-to-end manufacturing ownership and change control under established QMS requirements.
  • Own product yield, quality, reliability, and customer delivery performance as the primary manufacturing contact.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing BOM and drive improvements in productivity and total cost of manufacturing.
  • Define and execute continuous improvement plans to reduce scrap, improve yield, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Track manufacturing test results and ensure products meet specifications.
  • Produce and maintain product documentation and specifications.
  • Collaborate with quality on qualification test planning and execution.
  • Work with design and process engineering to enforce design-for-manufacturing (DFM) guidelines.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing trends and metrics.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills for immediate contribution; preferred items noted below.

  • 7+ years of experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing (must-have).
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and manufacturing engineering specific to optical transceivers.
  • Hands-on expertise in manufacturing BOM management, yield analysis, root-cause problem solving, and process implementation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC); experience generating technical reports.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality management systems and applicable quality standards.
  • Experience with optics failure analysis (FA) processes and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in geographically diverse, cross-functional teams and communicate clearly in English (verbal and written).
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with transceiver assembly processes (wire bond, die bond, active optical alignment), product testing, burn-in, and ongoing reliability testing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (specified by the posting). No advanced degree or explicit equivalent-experience language was provided.
