Job Title

OPC Production Engineer

Role Summary

Process reticle design data through Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) to ensure accurate transfer of designs to silicon. Support production and R&D tapeouts by developing OPC flows, automation, verification methods, and process improvements.

Work within the MaskTech team and collaborate with cross-functional and global partners in Design, Lithography, Mask Development, Tapeout Operations, and manufacturing fabs to maintain tapeout execution and wafer patterning quality.

Experience Level

Entry-level (minimum 2 years of semiconductor industry experience as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include supporting tapeout execution, troubleshooting, and improving OPC processes:

  • Develop OPC job decks, execute process flows, and optimize recipes for production and R&D tapeouts.
  • Collaborate across functions to create new OPC flows, implement best-known methods, and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot OPC process issues to maintain production stability and quality.
  • Develop automation, scripts, and verification methods to reduce cycle time and improve operational efficiency.
  • Communicate technical findings, project status, risks, and recommendations to partners and management.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors required for the role; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing technologies, photolithography processes, and photomasks.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills and experience working with global teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and multitasking skills; ability to manage competing priorities.

Nice-to-have (preferred):

  • Experience with OPC tools, CAD toolchains, and mask/layout file formats such as GDS/OAS; familiarity with layout viewing tools (e.g., K2View, DF2).
  • Familiarity with Linux and scripting or programming languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams, especially across the United States and Japan.
  • Exposure to AI tools or demonstrations of applying AI techniques to engineering tasks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or a related science field is listed as the minimum; a Master's degree in electrical engineering or related science is preferred. The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
