Job Title

OMT RAM NPI RDA Application Engineer

Role Summary

Support DRAM new product introduction (NPI) and high-volume manufacturing by developing, qualifying, and sustaining inspection and application solutions. The role drives inspection readiness, inline monitoring, defect detection, and data-driven yield improvement through collaboration with process, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level (mid-career). Typical candidate will have several years of relevant engineering or manufacturing experience; no explicit years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on enabling inspection capabilities, analyzing manufacturing data, supporting root-cause investigations, and driving yield improvement during NPI and production ramps.

  • Develop, qualify, and sustain inspection and application solutions for DRAM NPI and production.
  • Design and enable inline monitoring strategies for defect detection and yield learning.
  • Analyze manufacturing, inspection, and yield data to identify trends and potential yield limiters.
  • Support root-cause investigations for yield excursions using data-driven problem solving.
  • Drive continuous yield improvement and production stability initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure inspection readiness during technology transfers and product ramps.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, capabilities, and methodologies to improve inspection effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with global engineering and supplier partners to resolve technical issues.
  • Document results, insights, and lessons learned to support knowledge sharing.
  • Apply AI-enabled tools and methods to accelerate defect analysis, yield learning, and decision-making.

Requirements

Core expectations and desirable skills for successful performance in this role.

Must-have:

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on, experimental problem-solving approach.
  • Data-driven mindset: ability to analyze data, iterate, and translate findings into engineering actions.
  • Structured problem-solving and experience participating in root-cause analyses.
  • Effective communication, collaboration across functions, and ability to work in a fast-paced NPI environment.
  • Proactive attitude toward continuous learning and exploring new technologies or methodologies.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in DRAM or advanced semiconductor manufacturing, NPI, technology transfer, or high-volume production.
  • Hands-on experience with electron beam inspection (EBI) or advanced inline inspection systems, including recipe development and sustainment.
  • Strong experience with manufacturing, inspection, defect, or yield data analysis and translating insights into actions.
  • Proficiency with scripting or analytical tools (e.g., Python, JMP) and familiarity with layout-based tools such as KLayout.
  • Experience with quality and problem-solving frameworks (FA, DOE, SPC, FMEA, 8D).
  • Proven record of contributing to measurable yield, defect reduction, or cycle-time improvements.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Materials Science, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or closely related discipline). Preferred: advanced degree or equivalent industry experience in semiconductor manufacturing, yield engineering, inspection, or application roles; explicit allowance for equivalent industry experience.
