Micron TechnologyJob Title
OMT Dry Etch Member of Technical Staff (MTS)
Role Summary
Senior technical leader in the OMT Dry Etching Engineering organization, responsible for developing, qualifying, and enabling advanced dry etch processes for leading-edge technology nodes at Taichung Fab 16. The role focuses on process performance (CD control, profile, selectivity, defectivity), equipment and chamber optimization, cross-functional transfer to manufacturing, and mentoring technical staff.
Candidates will be expected to propose technical roadmaps, lead cross-site technical efforts, engage with equipment suppliers, and document at least one individual AI-enabled improvement aligned with Micron's 2027 AI Performance Goals.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The position targets experienced technologists (minimum 15 years of industry experience in semiconductor dry etch process development or closely related domains).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, optimize, and qualify advanced dry etch processes for leading-edge nodes, ensuring control of CD, profile, selectivity, and low defectivity.
- Drive technology improvements in plasma etch mechanisms, chamber performance, and equipment capability to support scaling and yield.
- Collaborate with integration, module, equipment engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust process transfer and high-volume manufacturability.
- Serve as a senior technical authority: guide and mentor junior engineers and influence long-term module development strategy.
- Lead cross-site or cross-functional task forces to resolve complex technical issues using advanced analytical methods.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives targeting process stability, cost efficiency, and inline yield.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and next-generation plasma etch platforms; manage supplier collaborations and benchmarking.
- Present technical findings, proposals, and roadmaps to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders; represent the company in external technical forums when appropriate.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities:
- Deep knowledge of plasma physics, etching chemistry, thin-film interactions, reactor design, and statistical process control.
- Proven track record of technical innovation and problem solving in advanced semiconductor process technologies.
- Demonstrated success in high-volume manufacturing (HVM) environments and technology node ramp phases.
- Strong reputation for influencing stakeholders and leading major technical initiatives without direct authority.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
- Experience collaborating with equipment suppliers and evaluating chamber/equipment performance.
- Ability to run cross-functional teams and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related scientific field as stated in the posting.
