Job Title

Ocotillo Technology Fabrication Yield Analysis Engineer

Role Summary

As a Yield Analysis Engineer in Intel's manufacturing and product engineering organization, you will identify and resolve yield and reliability issues across product development and high-volume manufacturing. The role focuses on analyzing test and process data, performing failure analysis, and developing characterization techniques to improve manufacturing yields and product reliability.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mapping).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct yield analysis and failure investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to improve yields and reliability.
  • Analyze end-of-line test data, process parameters, and electrical measurements using statistical tools and correlation analysis.
  • Develop and implement advanced characterization and analysis techniques to support failure analysis and accelerate root-cause identification.
  • Perform electrical failure analysis (EFA) to address complex yield limiters during product development and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate across process, test, and product teams to segment issues related to process variation, test marginalities, and product operation.
  • Support defect and process characterization and contribute techniques to speed failure identification.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Practical experience in yield analysis, failure analysis, or process integration in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with statistics and data analytics: yield modeling, SPC, DOE, and correlation analysis.
  • Experience with wafer sort testing, defect metrology, electrical test (E test), and fab data systems.
  • Experience performing electrical failure analysis and developing characterization methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead structured problem solving across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Programming or scripting for large-scale data analysis (Python, SQL, JMP) and familiarity with machine learning or AI techniques.
  • Experience supporting NPI ramps, high-volume manufacturing (HVM) yield sustainment, inline monitoring, and yield excursion management.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related STEM field plus 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 2+ years relevant experience; OR Ph.D. in those fields (no specific experience required). No specific certifications were listed.
