Role Summary
As a Yield System Development Engineer (software emphasis) you will optimize and maintain defect metrology and yield systems to accelerate yield learning and enable rapid process improvements. You will work with equipment development, operations, automation, and manufacturing teams to convert metrology, defect, and electrical data into actionable process changes.
This role supports on-site fabrication metrology and high-volume manufacturing of leading-edge logic nodes in Phoenix, AZ.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting expects an experienced hire with several years of relevant experience; minimums include at least 1+ year in an advanced manufacturing environment and additional software/statistics experience (see Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on data-driven yield improvement, system development, and production readiness for inline metrology.
- Perform statistical analysis and develop visualizations to guide process development roadmaps.
- Develop methods and systems to analyze diverse large-scale data sources for yield modeling.
- Maintain systems that enable rapid interpretation of fab process, defect, and electrical data.
- Apply statistics, machine learning, and software coding to extract insights from large datasets.
- Transform experimental and manufacturing data into concrete yield improvement actions.
- Support new product introductions and design of experiments.
- Develop tools and algorithms for high-volume data analysis to identify yield limiters.
- Harden equipment systems to meet operational requirements for advanced logic nodes.
- Develop AI/ML applications to improve patterning and design efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data integrity and implement custom algorithms.
Requirements
Minimum technical skills and experience required to be considered for the role; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven software coding experience (examples: Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript, HTML) with emphasis on ML/AI applications.
- Experience with statistical analysis and analytical methods for process/yield data.
- Experience curating analysis-ready datasets and applying domain knowledge to data preparation.
- At least 1+ year of experience in an advanced manufacturing environment (semiconductor fabrication, packaging, assembly, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
- Must have at least two of the following: working knowledge of source control tools (Git); intermediate or better SQL proficiency; 2+ years maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing automation systems.
- Ability to develop and deploy tools/algorithms for high-volume data pipelines and integrate with production systems.
Preferred:
- US Citizenship or ability to obtain required government security clearance (TS/SCI with Polygraph) where applicable.
- Experience in technical documentation, training, project management, and strong customer-service orientation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years in Engineering or Science disciplines (examples: Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering) OR Master's degree or higher.
