Job Title

NVIDIA 2027 Internships: Hardware ASIC Design

Role Summary

12-week, full-time hardware ASIC design internship within NVIDIA's hardware teams based in Santa Clara. Interns work on engineering projects that contribute to ASIC design, verification, physical design, or measurement efforts and deliver measurable results.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs). Typical duration: 12 weeks.

Responsibilities

Interns will be assigned engineering tasks that support ASIC development and verification. Responsibilities vary by team and project but typically include:

  • Design and implement RTL modules and testbenches.
  • Perform synthesis, static timing analysis, and timing closure activities.
  • Contribute to verification, emulation, and functional coverage efforts.
  • Work on CAD/physical design tasks such as floorplanning, P&R, power/clock distribution (when applicable).
  • Run silicon instrumentation, measurement, and performance analysis as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and present progress and results.

Requirements

See Education Requirements below for degree and enrollment expectations.

  • Coursework or internship experience in RTL/HDL, digital systems, VLSI design, timing/STA, synthesis, or related ASIC design topics.
  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with verification and testbench methodologies (e.g., UVM, functional coverage) and gate-level flows.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages used in verification/EDA flows: SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, C, C++, Python, Perl, TCL; comfortable with Linux environments.
  • Ability to complete a 12-week full-time internship and contribute to project deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a team and communicate results clearly.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with CAD/physical design tools and methodologies, power/performance optimization, P&R and timing closure, SRAM design, or silicon measurement and instrumentation.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled and pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field for the full duration of the internship. Anticipated graduation date (month and year) should be clearly indicated on the resume/CV.
