Job Title

NVIDIA 2027 Internships: Hardware ASIC Design

Role Summary

12-week, full-time internship on NVIDIA's hardware ASIC design teams. Interns contribute to design, verification, and implementation tasks that support production silicon and development flows.

Work areas may include RTL design and verification, timing and static timing analysis, synthesis and power/performance optimization, CAD and physical-design methodologies, and silicon instrumentation. Intern hourly pay range: $20 - $71 USD.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for current undergraduate or graduate students; no prior professional experience required beyond relevant coursework or project work. Full-time availability for the 12-week period is required.

Responsibilities

Interns will work on defined ASIC design or verification projects with measurable deliverables. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement RTL blocks and participate in code reviews using SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL.
  • Develop and run testbenches, perform functional verification and coverage analysis (UVM/other frameworks).
  • Support synthesis, static timing analysis, and power/performance optimization tasks.
  • Assist with CAD and physical-design flows: floorplanning, P&R, timing closure, and packaging considerations.
  • Create scripts and small tools in Python, TCL, Perl, or C/C++ to automate flows and diagnose issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and present progress and results.

Requirements

Key technical skills and availability required for the internship. See Education Requirements below for degree and enrollment expectations.

  • Coursework or hands-on experience in digital systems, RTL design, VLSI, or verification.
  • Familiarity with HDLs and verification frameworks (SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, UVM).
  • Comfort with scripting/programming (Python, TCL, Perl, C/C++) and working in Linux environments.
  • Ability to work full-time for the 12-week internship and deliver project outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with STA, synthesis flows, SoC design, SRAM/cell design, CAD/physical-design tools, emulation, or prior relevant internships/projects.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field for the full duration of the internship. Anticipated graduation month and year must be indicated on the resume/CV.
