Job Title

NVIDIA 2027 Internships: Digital Circuit Design

Role Summary

12-week, full-time internship within NVIDIA's hardware teams focused on digital circuit and transistor-level design. Interns work on task-based projects that contribute to real products and collaborate with engineers across design, verification and EDA tool groups.

This role provides hands-on experience with digital circuit design, simulation, and EDA flows used in modern CMOS/FinFET chips.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students; targeted at undergraduate or graduate students actively enrolled in a degree program. No specific professional years-of-experience required.

Responsibilities

Interns will be assigned concrete project goals and expected to contribute to design, verification, and characterization tasks. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement digital circuits at RTL and transistor level (flip-flops, math cells, level shifters, register files).
  • Run SPICE/HSPICE simulations, characterization, and timing/delay analysis; perform Monte Carlo and variability studies.
  • Use EDA tools for synthesis, place-and-route, and verification (Cadence, Synopsys, etc.).
  • Optimize circuits for power, leakage, and performance; work on power distribution and management solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts and small tools using Python, Perl or similar languages to support design flows.
  • Document results, present findings to mentors, and integrate feedback from senior engineers.

Requirements

Core technical skills and relevant experience. Items listed as "Preferred" are beneficial but not mandatory.

  • Must-have: Coursework or project experience in digital circuit design, timing and delay analysis, standard cell behavior, memory/array (SRAM) fundamentals, and SPICE-based simulation.
  • Must-have: Practical experience or familiarity with HDL and verification: Verilog, SystemVerilog or VHDL.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with EDA tools and flows (Cadence, Synopsys) and basic scripting using Python or Perl.
  • Preferred: Experience with transistor-level circuits, FinFET technology, Monte Carlo analysis, SerDes or high-speed interfaces, or prior use of HSPICE.
  • Preferred: Exposure to place-and-route design tools, datapath tiling techniques, and power/thermal optimization strategies.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled and pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field for the full duration of the 12-week internship; anticipated graduation date (month and year) must be clearly indicated on your resume or CV.
