Job Title

NVIDIA 2027 Internships: Digital Circuit Design

Role Summary

12-week, full-time internship within NVIDIA's hardware teams focused on digital circuit and transistor-level design. Interns work on defined projects that contribute measurable results to product or research efforts.

Work includes circuit design, simulation, characterization, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for university students (0–3 years experience). Intended for candidates currently enrolled in a degree program.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities during the internship include:

  • Design and implement digital circuits and datapath components (flip-flops, level shifters, math cells, register files, etc.).
  • Perform transistor-level design, timing and delay analysis, and power/leakage optimization.
  • Create and run circuit simulations (SPICE/HSPICE), Monte Carlo analyses, and characterize results.
  • Use EDA tools for place-and-route, synthesis, and verification; assist with standard cell and memory/array design (SRAM).
  • Develop or use RTL/HDL code (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL) and automation scripts (Python, Perl) to support design flows.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate blocks, debug issues, and document design decisions and test results.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and practical abilities expected:

  • Understanding of digital circuit concepts: timing, standard-cell design, memory arrays, power distribution and management.
  • Experience with RTL/HDL (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL) and familiarity with EDA tool flows (Cadence, Synopsys or similar).
  • Practical experience with circuit simulation and characterization (SPICE/HSPICE) and running Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Familiarity with CMOS/FinFET technology and transistor-level circuit behavior.
  • Scripting or programming ability (Python, Perl or similar) to automate flows and data analysis.
  • Ability to work full time for the duration of the 12-week internship and to communicate results clearly to engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled and pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field for the full duration of the internship. Anticipated graduation month and year must be clearly indicated on the resume or CV to be considered.
