Job Title
NTI Physical Failure Analysis Technician
Role Summary
Micron NAND Technology Integration (NTI) Singapore seeks a technician to perform physical failure analysis (PFA) to identify failure mechanisms and support root-cause analysis and yield improvement for next-generation memory products. The role works within the Yield Enhancement PFA team and supports transfer of PFA processes into production.
Work involves hands-on operation of failure analysis tools, delivering analysis results to engineering teams, and driving continuous improvement of PFA methods.
Experience Level
Entry-level technician. No specific years of experience stated; suitable for early-career candidates or those with equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform delayering and sample preparation using wet and dry etch techniques, polish wheel, and acid hood procedures.
- Operate SEM and dual-beam FIB; prepare STEM/TEM lamellae for cross-section analysis.
- Generate slice-and-view and top-down images and provide timely feedback for inline process improvement.
- Collaborate with EFA and yield engineers to isolate visual defects and identify failure mechanisms.
- Develop and refine PFA techniques and workflows to reduce visualization time for root-cause failures.
- Test and evaluate new processes and support transfer of PFA processes into production.
- Own and maintain PFA tools to maximize uptime and support continuous improvement.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes:
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with delayering and sample preparation for semiconductor failure analysis.
- Experience operating SEM and FIB; competence in STEM/TEM cross-section preparation and imaging.
- Ability to interpret, summarize and present analysis data clearly in written and verbal form.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; self-motivated and able to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to innovate methods to improve throughput and diagnostics.
- Good communication and presentation skills; ability to escalate new failure mechanisms to stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, fabrication, and yield analysis techniques (bench testers, emission, laser methods).
- Experience supporting process transfers into production.
Education Requirements
ITE or Diploma in an electronics-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
