Job Title

NPU Design Verification Engineer (Multiple Levels)

Role Summary

Verify functionality, performance, and power of high-performance, low-power Hexagon/NPU cores and associated subsystems. Work on verification plans, implement verification environments, and execute verification strategies for unit and subsystem-level deliverables.

Collaborate closely with architecture, design, implementation teams and customers to resolve verification issues and ensure correct integration of processor cores into larger SoC components.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting indicates a range of experience expectations (commonly 3–7 years); examples include 2+ years in high-performance microprocessor design and multiple references to 4–5+ years of verification experience depending on degree and role level.

Responsibilities

Core verification and cross-team collaboration responsibilities:

  • Verify function, performance, and power characteristics of DSP/NPU processor cores and subsystems.
  • Own unit and/or subsystem verification environments through all verification stages.
  • Develop verification plans and implement verification environments and testbenches.
  • Execute verification strategies and debug verification failures with architecture and design teams.
  • Support customers integrating the processor core into larger SoC designs.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and drive improvements to verification practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • Must-have: Strong experience with SystemVerilog testbench verification environments and modern verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Proven programming skills, including strong object-oriented programming background.
  • Must-have: Experience in microprocessor or processor subsystem verification and digital design verification tools and flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of cache, memory coherency, interconnects, bus protocols, and processor integration.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience working with customers to validate IP integration into SoCs.

Education Requirements

The posting references degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Stated degree+experience combinations include: Bachelor's degree with ~4+ years relevant experience; Master's degree with ~3+ years; PhD with ~2+ years. Elsewhere the posting indicates a Bachelor's is required and a Master's preferred, and also references 5+ years of digital design verification experience for some levels. No specific certifications were required. Equivalent practical experience is implied by the varying degree-plus-experience options.
