Role Summary
Design, optimize, verify, and test hardware for NPU/AI processors within the ASIC engineering team. Work covers synthesis, integration, simulation, characterization, manufacturing bring-up, and production test to meet power, performance, area, and reliability targets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture) and provide technical leadership to improve yield, test time, and product quality.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Title indicates Sr Staff; typical candidates have multiple years of hardware engineering experience (preferred 5+ years). Minimum experience varies by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems including digital/analog/RF/optical, FPGA, and DSP elements.
- Integrate features and functionality into hardware designs according to proposals and roadmaps.
- Perform complex simulations and analyses to optimize power, performance, and area.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, and architecture teams to implement new requirements and test solutions.
- Evaluate, characterize, and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to meet customer schedules and improve yield.
- Assess reliability of materials and techniques; introduce automation and optimization to maximize productivity.
- Write detailed technical documentation and provide guidance to other team members.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Significant hardware engineering experience (preferred 5+ years).
- Practical experience with circuit design (digital, analog, or RF) and schematic capture/circuit simulation tools.
- Hands-on use of test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and RF tools.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, characterization, and developing manufacturing/test solutions.
- Ability to run complex simulations and optimize designs for power, performance, and area.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to work independently and mentor or guide other engineers. Technical leadership experience is preferred.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FPGA and DSP systems and production-level test automation.
- Prior work on NPU/AI processor synthesis or ASIC production programs.
Education Requirements
Degrees listed: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
