Job Title

NPU / AI Processor RTL Design - Sr Staff

Role Summary

Senior RTL designer for NPU/AI processor and DSP cores responsible for front-end RTL implementation and integration through to tape-out. The role is on the hardware engineering team and focuses on RTL design, synthesis readiness, timing closure and collaboration with verification, power and physical design teams.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting expects experienced engineers; the team seeks candidates with multiple years of RTL and ASIC design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver and support RTL implementation and integration for processor/DSP blocks and work across EDA and cross-functional teams.

  • Develop functional and structural RTL for multiple logic blocks of a DSP/NPU core using Verilog and/or VHDL.
  • Run frontend checks and tool flows: linting, CDC analysis, simulation/regression, synthesis preparation and static timing checks.
  • Collaborate with verification on test plans, coverage plans and coverage closure.
  • Work with physical design on constraints and timing closure, and with power team on UPF-based power optimization.
  • Support integration of microprocessor blocks and cross-domain interfaces.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Practical RTL development experience in Verilog and/or VHDL including design partitioning, simulation and regression.
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g. ModelSim, VCS), synthesis tools (e.g. Design Compiler) and static timing tools (e.g. PrimeTime).
  • Familiarity with linting, CDC tools, UPF, code coverage and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
  • Experience collaborating with verification, physical design and power teams in an ASIC flow.
  • Good understanding of microarchitecture implementation and processor integration is highly desirable.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of hardware design experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 2+ years of experience; OR PhD in those fields with 1+ year of experience. Related work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree as stated in the posting.
