Job Title
NPI Process Integration Technician
Role Summary
This role supports the Penang Assembly and Test manufacturing facility by coordinating and executing New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from engineering builds through high-volume manufacturing. The technician ensures factory readiness, monitors lot execution, and acts as the execution interface between Integration Engineers and Manufacturing teams.
Focus is on disciplined, data-driven execution and timely escalation of execution risks to enable successful product startup and ramp.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Posted as an "Experienced Hire." No specific years of experience required in the posting; prior hands-on semiconductor manufacturing or NPI experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are execution, monitoring, and coordination of NPI/engineering lots and related processes.
- Support NPI Process Integration Engineers and integrators in executing new product introductions and ensuring factory readiness from early builds through volume ramp.
- Review, manage, and track NPI intake forms, launch checklists, and VF/ENG lot checklists to ensure timely closure prior to lot starts.
- Set up, release, and monitor NPI/Engineering/Lead lots through the factory; ensure correct routing, priority handling, and adherence to approved process flows.
- Actively track lot movement and health; promptly highlight abnormal behaviors such as holds, tool mismatches, routing errors, and yield-risk signals to Integration and Engineering teams.
- Provide hands-on monitoring at high-risk steps, for lead lots, and first-of-kind flows; perform time-zero monitoring and yield data checks.
- Support problem-solving by supplying accurate execution data, lot history, and process context for 8D, MRB, CADET, or yield investigations.
- Coordinate with Module NPI, Manufacturing, Test, Yield, and Automation teams to close execution gaps and implement recovery actions.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with NPI integrators, engineers, and group leads on lot status, risks, and recovery actions.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and operational discipline. Education details are in the Education Requirements section below.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor assembly, test, manufacturing, or NPI environments.
- Familiarity with factory process flows, tool routing, lot management, and execution controls for ENG/NPI/PROD lots.
- Comfortable using manufacturing systems for lot tracking, route verification, hold/release workflows, and dashboards.
- Strong attention to detail, precision in execution, and adherence to process change control and RFCs.
- Willingness to provide off-hour support or shift flexibility during major NPI ramps or critical execution windows.
- Effective communication and escalation skills; able to highlight risks early and work cross-functionally.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to engineering/lead/first-of-kind flows, re-NPI activities, and familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, MRB).
Education Requirements
Diploma in Engineering or a technical discipline (examples: Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or other semiconductor-related fields), or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience.
