NPI Director
Role Summary
The NPI Director leads the industrialization strategy for Assembly and Final Test technologies, overseeing the transition of new products from concept to high-volume manufacturing while optimizing material value add (MVA).
This role manages a multidisciplinary organization of approximately 50 people and drives cross-functional alignment with product, R&D and operations teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 15+ years of hands-on experience in Semiconductor Assembly/Test and 5β7 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large engineering functions.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include end-to-end NPI leadership, cost strategy, operational readiness, and building technical talent.
- Lead end-to-end industrialization and NPI for Assembly and Final Test (FT) technologies from prototype to high-volume manufacturing.
- Partner with Business Groups during product architecture to ensure Design for Excellence (DFX) and smooth technology transfer.
- Direct complex qualifications and ensure products meet capability, stability and manufacturability targets (e.g., Cpk β₯ 1.67, zero-defect reliability, optimized OEE).
- Define and enforce global handshake protocols between R&D and Operations to reduce friction during production ramps.
- Drive BOM second-source strategy and collaborate with Global Procurement to achieve material cost savings through substitution, localization and benchmarking.
- Perform competitive analysis and market benchmarking to maintain BOM cost competitiveness.
- Manage a matrixed team (~30 indirect labor, ~20 direct labor), implement succession planning and develop technical SMEs and future leaders.

- Minimum 15+ years of hands-on experience in Semiconductor Assembly/Test, with 5β7 years in senior leadership overseeing large engineering teams.
- Expert-level knowledge of advanced packaging technologies, materials science, and equipment automation.
- Master Black Belt proficiency in DMAIC / Six Sigma or equivalent; experience leading high-visibility technical incident response.
- Strong financial literacy with the ability to connect engineering decisions to P&L outcomes and MVA performance.
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills; proven ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and negotiate with global suppliers.
