NOC (RTL) Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
NOC (RTL) Design Engineer
Role Summary
The NOC (Network-on-Chip) RTL Design Engineer will design, implement, verify, and optimize RTL for on-chip interconnects and related hardware subsystems. The role collaborates with architecture, verification, validation, software and systems teams to deliver silicon-ready hardware that meets power, performance, area and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Typical candidate has professional hardware engineering experience; hiring guidelines indicate experience starting around 3 years and up.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design, analysis, integration and support of NoC/RTL and hardware bring-up:
- Plan, design, verify, and test RTL and associated electronic systems for on-chip interconnects.
- Integrate features into hardware designs per product requirements and roadmaps.
- Perform simulations and analyses to meet power, performance, and area targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture) to implement requirements and test solutions.
- Characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up solutions to meet yield and schedule targets.
- Evaluate reliability, identify design or compatibility issues, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Produce clear technical documentation for design and validation activities.
Requirements
Key skills and experience expectations. Items labeled "Must-have" are essential; "Nice-to-have" items are preferred.
- Must-have: Experience with RTL design and digital hardware implementation (practical RTL coding, synthesis-aware design).
- Must-have: Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with circuit design (digital/analog/RF) and schematic capture or circuit simulation tools.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools) and silicon bring-up.
- Nice-to-have: Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent) with ~3+ years relevant experience; alternately Master's degree + ~2 years, or PhD + ~1 year. Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a listed degree.
