Job Title

New College Graduate β€” Semiconductor Design Engineer, DRAM Products Group

Role Summary

Design and analyze digital and analog circuits for DRAM memory products across the full product lifecycle, from circuit design and layout to silicon validation. Work within a global design engineering organization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability goals.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Suitable for candidates with minimal industry experience β€” typically 0–2 years.

Responsibilities

Contribute to memory circuit design, simulation, and validation activities throughout the chip development flow.

  • Assist with gate-level to full-chip design, layout, and performance optimization of memory circuits.
  • Set up and run circuit simulations using SPICE and HDL-based flows; debug and analyze results.
  • Design and develop schematic blocks including memory arrays, control logic, address decode, datapaths, and internal test logic.
  • Evaluate architectural tradeoffs and quantify impacts on power, performance, area, and reliability.
  • Import and analyze layout parasitics in circuit simulation environments and optimize design rules.
  • Translate device specifications into die-level circuit functionality across operating ranges.
  • Support test chip definition, silicon bring-up, validation strategies, and lab correlation.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, and Marketing to ensure manufacturability.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce technical innovations that improve competitiveness.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Basic understanding of memory applications and CMOS device behavior.
  • Strong foundation in circuit simulation setup, analysis, and debug.
  • Experience with SPICE and familiarity with Verilog-based flows for verification/debug.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with memory circuit design and layout optimization.
  • Familiarity with CMOS process reliability limits.
  • Exposure to silicon validation and test chip bring-up.
  • Demonstrated motivation to grow technically within collaborative, global teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or higher (MS/PhD). No other degrees, fields, certifications, or equivalent-experience language were specified in the source.
