Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team developing high-speed, high-accuracy analog circuits for optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+). Work spans architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep-submicron CMOS ICs.
This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (three days per week on-site) and requires collaboration with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting expects substantial experience (examples: 8+ years with a Bachelor's, 6+ years with a Master's, or 3+ years with a PhD).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include full lifecycle mixed-signal IC design and team technical leadership.
- Architect, design, simulate, layout, measure and productize high-speed AMS CMOS blocks.
- Lead a large block on complex chips, set design methodology, track deliverables and participate in peer reviews.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and review their deliverables.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop and validate test setups and laboratory measurements, including ESD practices.
- Drive design-for-manufacturability activities: PVT characterization, IR drop, electromigration and self-heating analysis.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and preferred skills.
-
Must-have: Demonstrated design, simulation and measurement experience for high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (SERDES, data converters), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, op-amps/PGAs, and equalization techniques.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with layout and high-frequency layout practice, including floorplanning for power/ground and analog/digital partitioning.
-
Must-have: Experience taking designs from concept through production testing and characterization across process/voltage/temperature corners.
-
Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable), FinFET/GAA technologies, EM/field extraction tools, and mixed-signal simulation flows (AMS).
-
Preferred / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence (Virtuoso), Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, MATLAB and mixed-signal verification tools.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience, or PhD plus 3 years of related experience. (The posting specifies "related experience" paired with the degree level.)
