New College Graduate Failure Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Entry-level engineering role on the Failure Analysis team performing root-cause analysis and reporting for semiconductor products. The role supports field customers and new product development by operating lab instrumentation and collaborating with global engineering teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level / New college graduate. Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with limited professional experience (0–2 years).
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve performing failure analysis, operating laboratory equipment, and communicating findings to internal teams and customers.
- Perform root-cause failure analysis on semiconductor devices and assemblies.
- Operate laboratory equipment including optical and acoustic microscopes, 3D X-ray tomography, photon emission and thermal microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and bench instrumentation.
- Collect data, document test procedures, and prepare technical reports of findings.
- Support customer field investigations and new product development teams.
- Follow established failure analysis flows and safety procedures; escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
- Manage multiple tasks, take direction from senior staff, and participate in team meetings and design reviews.
Requirements
Essential skills, eligibility, and soft skills expected for the role.
- Experience with electrical bench work or instrument control is preferred.
- Fast learner with attention to detail and strong troubleshooting ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Initiative-taking team player able to take direction and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- U.S. work authorization required: U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
