Job Title

New College Grad - Semiconductor Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the DRAM Engineering Group to design, simulate, optimize, and validate CMOS digital and analog circuits for advanced DRAM and emerging memory products. The role spans early technology development through product qualification and involves collaboration with design, verification, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable tape-outs.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” new college graduate.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on circuit design, simulation, physical design support, and cross-functional collaboration through the product lifecycle.

  • Design, simulate, analyze, and optimize CMOS memory circuits and functional blocks (memory arrays, control logic, datapaths, address decoding, I/O).
  • Support physical design tasks: floorplanning, placement, routing optimization, layout verification, and manufacturability improvements.
  • Perform circuit simulations and debugging using industry-standard tools and analyze results across operating conditions and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Integration, Test, Assembly, CAD, Modeling, Verification, and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and successful tape-out execution.
  • Use AI-assisted design tools, generative/agentic AI workflows, and automation to improve simulation efficiency, design exploration, and debugging.
  • Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and handoff activities needed for qualification and production.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace capabilities for the role.

Must-have:

  • Foundational knowledge of CMOS circuit design, semiconductor devices, and device physics.
  • Experience or academic exposure to circuit simulation and modeling tools (e.g., FINESIM, HSPICE, SPICE, Verilog).
  • Understanding of digital logic design, state machines, and design verification methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, plus clear written and verbal communication and teamwork in an engineering environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience or coursework in memory technologies (DRAM, NAND, SRAM), high-speed circuits, or mixed-signal design.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, physical design flows, layout methodologies, and power delivery network (PDN) analysis.
  • Programming or scripting with Python, Tcl, Perl, or similar for design automation and workflow optimization.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, code assist, LLMs, or generative AI to improve engineering productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
