Job Title
New College Grad - Semiconductor Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Semiconductor Design Engineer will design, simulate, optimize, and validate digital and analog CMOS circuits for advanced DRAM and emerging memory technologies. The role works across the full product lifecycle and collaborates with design, verification, process, test, CAD, and manufacturing teams to support tape-out and product qualification.
Experience Level
Entry-level (New college graduate).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on circuit design, simulation, and cross-functional execution toward producible memory products.
- Design, simulate, analyze, and optimize CMOS memory circuits and functional blocks (memory arrays, control logic, datapaths, address decoding, I/O interfaces).
- Support physical design activities: floorplanning, placement, routing optimization, layout verification, and manufacturability improvements.
- Perform circuit simulations and debugging across operating conditions using industry-standard tools and analyze results against performance and reliability targets.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Integration, Test, Assembly, CAD, Modeling, Verification, and other partners to ensure product quality and successful tape-out.
- Apply automation and AI-assisted design techniques to improve simulation efficiency, design exploration, and debug workflows.
- Document design decisions, simulation results, and validation activities; communicate findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Foundational knowledge of CMOS circuit design, semiconductor devices, and device physics.
- Experience or academic exposure to circuit simulation and modeling tools such as FINESIM, HSPICE, SPICE, or Verilog.
- Understanding of digital logic design, state machines, and design verification methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with clear written and verbal communication and teamwork ability.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience or coursework in DRAM, NAND, SRAM, high-speed circuits, or mixed-signal design.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, physical design flows, layout methodologies, or PDN analysis.
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, Tcl, Perl) for design automation and workflow optimization.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, LLMs, or generative AI to enhance productivity.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
