Job Title
New College Grad - Semiconductor Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on the design, simulation, optimization, and validation of digital and analog CMOS circuits for advanced DRAM and emerging memory technologies within the DRAM Engineering Group. Collaborate with global design, verification, manufacturing and cross-functional teams to deliver qualified memory products from technology development through product qualification and tape-out.
Experience Level
Entry-level (new college graduate).
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Design, simulate, analyze, and optimize CMOS memory circuits and functional blocks (memory arrays, control logic, datapaths, address decoding, I/O).
- Support physical design tasks: floorplanning, placement, routing optimization, layout verification, and manufacturability improvements.
- Perform circuit simulations and debugging using tools such as FINESIM, HSPICE, SPICE, and Verilog; analyze results across operating conditions and performance targets.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Integration, Test, Assembly, CAD, Modeling, Verification and other partners to ensure product quality, reliability, and successful tape-out execution.
- Leverage AI-assisted design tools, generative and agentic AI workflows, and automation to improve simulation efficiency, design exploration, and debugging processes.
Requirements
Key technical skills and attributes required or preferred.
-
Must-have: Foundational knowledge of CMOS circuit design, semiconductor devices, and device physics.
-
Must-have: Experience or academic exposure to circuit simulation and modeling tools such as FINESIM, HSPICE, SPICE, or Verilog.
-
Must-have: Understanding of digital logic design, state machines, and design verification methodologies.
-
Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and clear written communication and collaboration abilities.
-
Preferred: Experience or coursework in DRAM, NAND, SRAM, high-speed circuits, or mixed-signal design.
-
Preferred: Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, physical design flows, layout methodologies, and PDN analysis.
-
Preferred: Programming or scripting experience (Python, Tcl, Perl) for design automation and experience using AI-assisted development tools and LLM/code-assist.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
