New College Grad - Photolithography Process Engineer

Role Summary

Join Micron's Boise High-Volume Manufacturing photolithography team to support stable, repeatable lithography processes for DRAM production. The role focuses on executing control plans, monitoring process and tool health, responding to excursions, and completing defined improvement tasks with guidance from more experienced engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Role intended for new college graduates; recent graduates or engineers with limited professional experience.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities are to maintain day-to-day lithography process health and support continuous improvement under guidance.

  • Execute established control plans and standard work to support stable lithography manufacturing.
  • Monitor SPC, metrology, defect metrics, and tool health indicators; escalate risks appropriately.
  • Support excursion response activities including containment, data collection, and documentation.
  • Partner with shift operations and equipment engineering to support tool recovery and daily priorities.
  • Complete well-defined improvement tasks related to yield, output, cycle time, or cost with guidance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and expectations; preferred items are listed afterward.

  • Must-have: Understanding of high-volume manufacturing execution, including SPC monitoring and response.
  • Must-have: Foundational knowledge of lithography processes, photoresist/materials, and defect mechanisms.
  • Must-have: Ability to follow standard work, analyze data, and document results clearly.
  • Must-have: Willingness to travel internationally for onboarding and training.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience supporting semiconductor lithography processes in an HVM environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with 365 nm, 248 nm, or 193 nm lithography materials and processes.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to data analysis tools, statistics, or DOE methods.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience collaborating with operations or equipment engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
