Job Title

New College Grad - OPC Production Engineer Technician

Role Summary

Entry-level position in Micron's reticle data preparation team focused on Optical Proximity Correction (OPC). The role processes reticle design data to enable photolithography printing for production and R&D fabs.

Work requires coordination with cross-functional teams across time zones (US, Japan, India) to maintain continuous tapeout and production operations.

Experience Level

Entry-level / New college graduate. Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with internship or school project experience in microelectronics.

Responsibilities

Support OPC production and ensure high-quality tapeout data; monitor operations and coordinate with stakeholders to reduce cycle time.

  • Participate in OPC production activities and apply best-known methods with Mask and Litho Development teams.
  • Monitor system notifications, perform preliminary investigations, and escalate key issues.
  • Coordinate with internal customers and tapeout flow groups; provide status and runtime updates.
  • Operate job flows: start, stop, reorder based on priority.
  • Monitor compute farms, licensing, alert systems, and flow step timings.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues using in-house applications and utilities.
  • Document and report issues; suggest improvements to custom tools and utilities.
  • Collect and analyze OPC production metrics and data.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, behaviors, and tooling familiarity for day-to-day production support.

  • Hands-on familiarity with microelectronics through internships or school projects.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • High self-initiative and ability to work under tight, changing priorities and timeframes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with layout viewers (e.g. K2View); experience with DF2 database layout is ideal.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing (CMOS) and lithography/photo masks.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Willingness to work across time zones and coordinate global handoffs.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Linux, C++, and Python; ability to apply AI tools (examples: Claude) to daily work.

Education Requirements

Higher degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field is acceptable. Equivalent practical experience is considered. Alternative: High school diploma plus two years’ semiconductor industry experience may be acceptable.
