New College Grad - OPC Production Engineer Technician
Role Summary
Entry-level role in the reticle data preparation group responsible for processing reticle design data through Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) to enable accurate photolithography for production and R&D fabs.
The position supports tapeout operations, coordinates with mask and lithography teams, and maintains production readiness across multiple time zones (work with US, Japan, India teams).

Responsibilities
Main duties include supporting OPC production flow, monitoring systems, coordinating handoffs, and maintaining data quality for tapeout.
- Process reticle design data through OPC and support tapeout flow to enable wafer printing.
- Monitor system notifications, perform preliminary investigations, and escalate or forward issues as needed.
- Coordinate workload and communicate status with tapeout coordinators, Mask, and Litho Development teams.
- Provide status and runtime information for jobs in OPC.
- Start, stop, and reorder job flows according to shifting priorities.
- Monitor compute farms, licensing, and alert systems; troubleshoot basic issues using in-house applications.
- Document and report production issues; collect and analyze OPC production metrics.
- Use and propose improvements to custom utilities and automation tools supporting group goals.
- Participate in cross-time-zone passdowns and shift coverage as required to maintain continuous operations.
Requirements
Must-have technical and interpersonal skills to perform in a fast-paced semiconductor production environment.
- Familiarity with microelectronics through internships or relevant school projects.
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; proven ability to work with colleagues across functions.
- High degree of self-initiative and ability to work under tight, changing timeframes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with layout viewers (e.g., K2View) and DF2 database layout is desirable.
- Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing technologies and lithography/photo masks.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic production issues and use in-house applications.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Linux, C++, and Python.
- Basic knowledge of AI tools and the ability to apply AI to daily workflows.
- Experience analyzing production metrics.
Education Requirements
Primary posting indicates a higher degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related fields is preferred; the posting also references a Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or a High School degree with two years of semiconductor experience as alternatives. Equivalent practical experience is explicitly considered.
