Job Title

New College Grad - Memory Cell Test Structure Design and Layout

Role Summary

Entry-level engineering role focused on designing and laying out memory cell and supporting test structures for advanced semiconductor technology nodes. The role works with process, device characterization, reliability, CAD and design-rule teams to produce test elements and support process development.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” intended for new college graduates or engineers with minimal industry experience.

Responsibilities

The role supports test structure design, documentation, verification, and debugging to enable process and product development.

  • Design and layout memory cell and support-circuitry test structures for advanced nodes.
  • Collaborate with Process Integration, Electrical Characterization, Device, Reliability, Design Rule, CAD, and other engineering teams.
  • Support process development activities, including mask development and OPC coordination with mask shop and product/design teams.
  • Verify and validate test structure documentation and parametric data.
  • Assist with parametric correlation and silicon debug activities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities for successful performance in this role.

  • Hands-on experience with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso (layout and schematic) and Calibre for verification.
  • Strong circuit design, layout, schematic, and verification skills, including DRC, LVS, and circuit simulation (HSPICE).
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics, device operation, parametric testing, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM).
  • Familiarity with memory array design architectures, fabrication processes, and common failure modes.
  • Ability to interpret device-under-test (DUT) definitions and deliver completed test element groups (TEGs).
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills; willingness to learn and explore new concepts.
  • Ability to drive decisions using data and metrics.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Skill, UNIX shell).
  • Experience with design debug informed by silicon learning.
  • Advanced knowledge of silicon processes, mask development, and OPC techniques.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Microelectronic Engineering is required (as listed in minimum qualifications).
