New College Grad - HBM Product Development Failure Analysis Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
New College Grad — HBM Product Development Failure Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
The Product Development Failure Analysis (PDFA) team supports new High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) product introductions by identifying and resolving component and process failures that affect yield, reliability, and performance.
This role focuses on component-level failure analysis and product reliability during new HBM product ramps using electrical and physical characterization, statistical methods, and AI-enabled data analysis. The engineer will work cross-functionally with Product, Process, Quality, and Test teams to drive corrective actions and production qualification.
Experience Level
Entry-level — new college graduate. Recent graduates or candidates with equivalent practical experience are appropriate.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include investigation, data analysis, and cross-functional communication to support product ramp and reliability.
- Perform electrical, physical, and statistical failure analysis to identify component failure mechanisms.
- Analyze characterization and manufacturing data to determine root causes of fabrication, assembly, and test-related failures.
- Collaborate with Product, Process, Quality, and Test Engineering to resolve yield, reliability, and process defect issues.
- Use AI-enabled tools and statistical methods to evaluate large datasets, detect trends, and drive component performance improvements.
- Document and communicate findings, corrective actions, and risk assessments to multi-functional partners to support product qualification and production ramp.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Degree-related expectations are summarized under Education Requirements.
- Coursework or experience in semiconductor device physics, semiconductor manufacturing processes, or VLSI design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and data-driven problem solving.
- Experience using Python or a similar programming language for data analysis and engineering applications.
- Ability to analyze complex technical data and present clear, actionable findings to engineering teams.
- Effective collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams (Product, Process, Quality, Test).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred. Language in the posting allows equivalent experience in lieu of formal degree.
