Job Title

New College Grad - HBM Layout Engineer

Role Summary

The HBM Layout Engineer will produce physical layout for leaf cells, standard cells, and sub-blocks used in high-bandwidth memory designs. The role focuses on accurate layout implementation, running and interpreting physical verification (DRC/LVS), and coordinating with designers and verification engineers to meet schedule and quality goals.

Experience Level

Entry-level — new college graduate (recent graduates within the last 2 years).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design layout for leaf cells, standard cells, and sub-blocks for HBM designs.
  • Run and interpret DRC/LVS and other physical verification checks and correct violations.
  • Apply systematic, meticulous methods to ensure layout accuracy and design-rule compliance.
  • Plan and manage assigned work, demonstrating ownership to meet project timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (circuit designers, verification, manufacturing) to integrate layout deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuit concepts.
  • Experience using circuit simulation and design tools.
  • Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Conversational English communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively.

Nice-to-have:

  • Internship or academic project experience in pre-silicon circuit design.
  • Understanding of analog circuits, physical design, MOS device concepts, and semiconductor fabrication.
  • Familiarity with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre (DRC/LVS) or similar tools.
  • Experience with programming or scripting (C++, Python).
  • Awareness of layout trade-offs (speed, capacitance, power, area) and interest in physical verification and custom layout problems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related technical fields. Candidates are expected to have graduated within the last two years.
